Alex Buccilli
Alex Buccilli is a former professional baseball player, Division I standout, and dedicated youth development coach committed to building confident, fundamentally sound athletes through Big Game Performance in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A native of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, Alex grew up immersed in the game, training daily at his father’s indoor batting facility from the age of 10. He went on to star at Franklin Regional High School before continuing his career at Frederick Community College, where he posted a remarkable .447 batting average and helped lead his team to the NJCAA Division II World Series.
Alex then transferred to Coastal Carolina University baseball, where he became one of the most disciplined hitters in the conference. As an All-Big South performer in 2012, he helped the Chanticleers capture the conference tournament title while posting a .314 batting average and an elite .426 on-base percentage, striking out just 15 times in 57 games. A switch-hitting outfielder known for his advanced approach at the plate, Alex also gained national attention when his unique batting stance—part superstition, part mental routine—went viral on ESPN and across social media.
Following his collegiate career, Alex played professional baseball with the Washington Wild Things in the Frontier League, where he continued to develop his understanding of high-level competition and performance.
In 2014, Alex transitioned into coaching and founded 3B Baseball, an indoor training facility in the Myrtle Beach area focused on delivering professional-level instruction in hitting, outfield play, and the mental side of the game. Today, as the owner of Big Game Performance, he continues that mission—training athletes of all ages, leading elite travel teams, and helping players develop not only their skills, but their confidence, baseball IQ, and ability to perform when it matters most.
A lifelong student of the game and dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Alex brings real-world experience, energy, and a player-first approach to every athlete he coaches. Whether working with a young beginner or a high school prospect, his goal remains the same: to help players fall in love with the game while giving them the tools to succeed at the highest level.
